Burke Mtn Trail Day

February 28, 2015 at 8:26 pm

We’d like to send out a huge thanks to everyone who gave up some riding time on a beautiful day in February last weekend to help us restore Frank’s to fast, flowy, fun. We had over 60 people show up; by far the largest turnout ever. A special thanks goes out to ‪#‎Wesbild‬ for giving us permission to work on their land and for buying us lunch. Thanks to Me-N-Ed’s Pizza for giving us a killer discount on the 17 pizzas that were consumed. And last but not least, thanks to our sponsor for the day:

Physiotherapy Trail Day – Cinco de Mayo

May 7, 2013 at 1:11 am

Yesterday felt like we could have actually been in Mexico as BC was breaking records for the hottest May 5th. We might have broken our own record as 35 people came out to volunteer more than 150 hours of labour to the trails. That should definitely earn everyone some serious trail karma!

Physio was in pretty rough shape as it continued to see riders throughout the winter. Some of the soft spots were starting to get deep and root exposure was becoming troublesome in a few areas. We filled in the holes that were forming on either side of the new bridge on the lower section and pretty much laid new dirt on a 1/3 of the trail. Some sections were dug out and stabilized with rock and mineral soil and new dirt was added to some of the eroding steeps. In short, we accomplished a lot of work in half a day.  We wouldn’t say that the climb has been dumbed down but one of the trail builders summed it up well with “now there are no excuses …”

A lot of new and old faces came out and brought their skills, strong backs and love for the trails with them! Thank you to everyone for coming out instead of drinking beer (or mojitos) on the patio 🙂

Some people walked away with some pretty awesome swag so we’d love to give a special shout out to our awesome sponsor for the day:

Stay tuned for more trail news!

Backyard Trail work day a success!

November 17, 2012 at 6:58 am

An incredibly rainy Saturday morning couldn’t keep away the 22 volunteers who came out to to improve the drainage and trail surface of the Backyard Trail. Many hands made light work as we all completed the trail work a bit earlier than anticipated. Because of the rain, not many pictures were taken, but those that were can been seen by clicking on the album below.

Every volunteer walked away with a draw prize from Secret Cycles or Kintec. Thank you all for your support!

Physiotherapy Trail Day Progress Report

October 17, 2012 at 7:05 am

Thanks to everyone who gave up their leisure time to come out and help work on the bottom section to Physiotherapy. A huge amount of work was accomplished in a really short time.

The entrance from the road is untouched, but once in the trees, the low spots have been back filled, and some of the high spots have been brought down to make a consistent grade. A small re-route was cut to add one more corner in to make the top section a little more rideable. The section just after the new bridge got re-shaped a little to make it a more even grade. A lot of dirt and rock got moved by a very eager and hard working crew. The new section will still be challenging, but should be consistently climbable by anyone who is a strong rider, and will be much nicer to walk up too!

A big thank you goes to our sponsors for the day:
