5 Reasons Why You Need To Attend TORCA’s 7th Annual Fundraiser

Each year TORCA hosts a fundraiser to raise money to build and maintain mountain bike trails in the Tri-Cities. Money raised also helps TORCA purchase tools, supplies, food, signage, host workshops and much more! TORCA’s 7th annual fundraiser is happening on Sunday, May 27th, and you need to be there.

Here are five reasons why:

1. Support Your Local Trails

Here’s the deal, building and maintaining trails costs money. And as we get more authorization to build new trails we need money to do it.

Fundraising is one of the fastest ways to do just that while celebrating how far we’ve already come.

Show your support and help us raise money to build and maintain our local trail network. The best part? Every dollar from each Yellow Dog Beer sold goes towards trail stewardship in the Tri-Cities. Fundraising couldn’t be easier!

2. Bid on Killer Silent Auction Deals

Pick up extra special deals through our silent auction which will also go a long way in supporting TORCA.

Here’s a list of our Silent Auction Items so far:

  • $700 in Ryder sunglasses & goggles
  • 2 x$200 Innovative fitness gift certificates for personal training
  • $50 gift certificate to Bicycle Hub

With sponsors like Race Face, Schwalbe, Stans Notubes, Secret Cycles and more, you know there’s going to be some seriously good prizes on hand!

3. Win Some Money

Every year we host a 50/50 draw. If you win, you could use those earnings to buy more beer, or pay for all the sweet gear you bid on at the silent auction.

Last year 50/50 winnings were $318!

You can purchase three tickets for $5 or seven for $10. Each ticket purchased equals one entry in the drawing for a winner. Half the money goes to the winner and the other half goes to building local trails. It’s a win/ win!

4. Win Some Sweet Swag

What’s better than sitting at home on Sunday watching Netflix? How about winning some swag through the draw prizes?

Here’s what we’ve got for prizes:

We love our volunteers, especially when they help us build trails. They help keep our trails buff all season long with fresh golden dirt and new features week after week.

Attend our fundraiser and help support, congratulate and commemorate this fine citizen for stepping up and getting dirty. Then buy them a Yellow Dog Beer (see Reason #1).

BONUS REASON: Meet Other TORCA Members!!

If anything, you’ll want to come to our fundraiser to meet people from your TORCA community. You know it will be a good time when mountain bike enthusiasts get together to share tips, secret trails, and general #tricitystoke.

TORCA AGM 2017

The Tri-cities Off Road Cycling Association (TORCA) is pleased to formally announce the date of its Annual General Meeting.

Date: Wednesday November 29, 2017
Time: 7:00pm-8:30pm
Where: Coquitlam’s City Center Library (Room 137) 1169 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam

We will recap our accomplishments from the past year, discuss our direction for 2018, review our financial statement, and hold elections for the TORCA executive positions.

We are looking for some passionate and committed people to join the executive. We are looking for some passionate and committed people to join the executive.  Executive job descriptions are available here (click to view).  If you are interested in running for one of these positions, please email ken@torca.ca with your name and the position you are interested in so that we may prepare the ballots before the AGM. Nominations will also be accepted at the meeting.

If joining the TORCA executive isn’t your thing but you still want to be involved, joining a committee.  We are looking for people help with races, fundraising, social media/website, trail building, and special events.  If any of these appeal to you, please let a director know at the AGM or email ken@torca.ca .

Everyone is welcome to attend the AGM. However, only TORCA members who have paid their annual membership are entitled to vote.  Voting by proxy is not permitted.

Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day – Oct. 1, 2017

We are once again hosting another fun “Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day” on Sunday, October 1st, 2017.  The event is free and open to kids of all ages and abilities. The only requirements are a working bike and a helmet.

We have race plates for all participants, snacks and prizes! After some time in the skills park we will take a short ride through Mundy Park.

Annual Fundraiser – Sunday, May 28th

Come on out and support your favorite trail association while enjoying a burger and a craft beer. 

We are back at the at The Burrard Public House in Port Moody on Sunday, May 28th starting at 6 PM. Tickets are available at Kinetik Cycles, Kintec Port Moody, Westwood Cycle or through TORCA Directors. Send us a message through FB or contact@torca.ca.

$25 buys you a burger, a craft beer from Yellow Dog and an entry for our draw prizes. Our fantastic friends from Yellow Dog are also donating $1 from every glass of their beer sold at the event to TORCA.

We have some fantastic auction items this year including SRAM Guide Ultimate brakes (front/rear), tires, handlebars, bike-tuneups, a cruiser bike and much more. There will also be door prizes and a 50/50 draw and we are awarding our 2017/2017 Trail Fairy Trophy.
